While it may seem obvious, many people hesitate to call for help—often because they believe emergency responders won’t arrive in time. However, in situations like choking, knowing Choking First Aid can be critical, and even if help is delayed, some emergencies can quickly exceed your abilities, necessitating EMS support. In this lesson, you’ll learn: The most important information EMS needs when you call. How to guide EMS to your location both indoors and outdoors—even in places without a street address, such as parks, greenbelts, or hiking trails. 

FOUR PHASES OF CHOKING: 

I’ve created the four phases of choking to help you better understand a choking emergency. This framework is essential for anyone taking a Choking First Aid Course, as it allows you to think clearly through the situation instead of panicking, ultimately enhancing your Emergency Preparedness. 

In our Choking First Aid Course, you will learn essential techniques for administering choking first aid to conscious and unconscious infants, toddlers, children, teens, adults, and even yourself. 

In the Choking First Aid Course, I will integrate anti-choking devices, such as LifeVac, into the traditional choking first aid practices. This will enhance our approach to emergency preparedness and ensure participants are well-equipped for effective first aid certification.

UNIQUE CHOKING EMERGENCIES: Learn choking first aid for unique emergencies, such as those that occur in a wheelchair, in a bed where you can't get out, if you're unable to stand, during pregnancy, or if someone is too large to get their arms around.
